The Angry Chef: By Anthony Warner
"All Food can be embraced, because all food is healthy in some way and everything can form part of a balanced diet"
-Anthony Warner; The Angry Chef
Have you ever felt ashamed of your body that you couldn’t even look at yourself in the mirror?.
Have you ever felt bloated and ugly, regardless of what you consumed throughout the day?.
Have you ever fought your conscious mind whenever you were about to enjoy your dessert?
Is this fight taking so long to settle?, that it’s driving you crazy and is leading you into a constant mental battle with what is considered as "life’s ultimate enjoyment and pleasure?" .
Is this enemy of yours, known as food .. ?
If so, do not worry .. you’re not alone in this journey.
The internet is filled with self-help books, blogs and articles that keep on discussing and spreading false facts in regards to maintaining and following a healthy lifestyle. Yet, due to the public’s eager to change their habits rapidly, they would not only follow, but heavily depend on such facts.
Nonetheless, as rational entities, we need to master the act and idea of not giving credit to everything that is being shared and liked on social networking apps and sites.
Not all dietitians and influencers are who they claim to be. Some of those so-called healthy routines and regimes that they state to have followed, led multiple people, and still continue to do so, into a psychological and mental trauma against food.
Scientifically speaking, this is also known as an EATING DISORDER.
Guanine thoughts and prayers goes to the pure souls that we have lost due to the aforementioned, and a gentle reminder to those who are fighting this battle, not to give up because you can do it, you are stronger than your mind and fear.
The book I’ll be conversing on today revolves around such an international issue, as I like to call it. Its in fact a fight against our own thoughts. A fight against false facts. And most importantly, a fight against social media posts and influencers who reflect and label themselves to be healthy, when they’re just destroying their physical and mental state without even noticing it.
The Angry Chef, By Anthony Warner, is penned by literally an angry chef and author who aims to enlighten people about the reality of food and culinary enjoyment. Two words that are not seen as potential friends to some.
Within this book, the angry chef has answered all the questions and concerns of ours in regard to food and possession. In a fun realistic conversation, filled with notorious facts and scientific data, this book will allow you to take advantage and feel the pleasure of the smooth chocolate cake you have been craving for months. For it taught me how to enjoy my brownies without feeling any kind of guilt or shame!
The Angry Chef, is a free therapy that is based on reassurance and certitude that you are not alone and this is nothing but a phase, a dark phase that is going to end shortly.
Now imagine this scenario with me ..
You get into a bakery, and the smell of the freshly baked bread gets into your nostrils and mind. Normally, people would just purchase this warm fluffy good and eat it along the way. However, others who are concerned about the components of the bread more than enjoying it (like me prior reading this book), would stay away from not only the indicated, but avoid getting into bakeries and dining areas. This is the result of the widely spread belief that a healthy lifestyle requires one to cut off carbs, sugar and everything a normal being would find pleasure in. Its a bitter scheme that was and still is a daily life routine and procedure to some.
Sad, I agree. But we all know who to blame ..
The author has elaborated on multiple fears that halts one from enjoying food and other sustenance. As a result, I’ll be orating two of the most important international agitation and fears of not only mine, but the majority too.
Lets start with the fear of bread and the deliciousness of the oven-baked goods that are often taken out and away from healthy-clean eating plans. This nightmare have caused a great deal of people to stay away from wheat and its correspondence.
Wheat is a healthy source of nutrition, filled with protein and vitamins that not only satisfies you, but also helps in keeping you in shape. Yes in shape, if and when consumed precisely and correctly. The mouth-watering feeling that one gets after the first bite of bread is just fascinating, which keeps me wondering on how and why would people avoid carbs and wheat. They're delicious, healthy and gratifying.
As the author stated “Although people often talk about detaching bread because it is full of carbs, it has the highest protein content of any staple food apart from soy, and is a significant contributor of fiber and B vitamins ".
Our second fear concerns the bright, shiny pastries and the sweet chocolatey cakes that we often skip.
That’s rights, this fear is the uneasy feeling of sugar and the taste of glucose within our mouth. Regardless of where we stand Healthwise, we always tend to believe that terminating sugar from our diet is important. Not taking into consideration the mood swings and the consequences of a low sugar rate. As a result, we would replace sugar-based food and products with other alternatives that are known as sugar-free/ gluten-free.
Well, scientifically speaking, AGAIN. Those kinds of healthy alternatives that we believe would help us throughout the journey of clean eating, do in fact cause more harm than help.
The above-mentioned supplements support in increasing glucose rate in the blood, way faster than normal sugar would do. Not only that, but high dependency on such products could cause diabetes (God forbid, just BE cautious in here). As the author stated in the book "Gluten-free options are often higher in fat and sugar than their gluten equivalents".
Well, the truth to be told, I was never convinced by those alternatives. I always had an eerie feeling towards them. Surprisingly, the scientific clarifications about such options in the book persuaded me to get them all out of my way and cupboard as soon as possible!
We, as social media users can never avoid promoters and influencers. For, they not only pop into our feed, but we do live with them and among them.
Not only that, but some have even got to the point of publishing their own books and articles using a variety of virtual platforms where they discuss healthy ways of food consumption. In a wrong nonscientific way.
This kind of falsification and the perfect picture of "a healthy life equals a healthy fit body", is the primary source for the increasing number of eating disorder cases among people.
To me, a healthy lifestyle is a result of a healthy mind. It’s based on an individual who enjoys eating with no fear or shame. Its about an individual who exercises regularly but not excessively. It’s about a person who takes a good care of their physical health while not leaving their mental health behind.
